Dyckman is watching. This is where summer ball doesn’t take a day off.
Where even the ref jumps into the crowd. Where the Twin’s 72 still holds up and Noah leaves his chip in FLA to run with the neighborhood. This is where a crazy play can stop the 1 train and No Limit vs. KYDA will always be remembered. Where T.N.P.’s back–to–back jewelry set the bar and game tees are gold. Where the louder the drums, the sicker the game. This is two hundred and fourth.
The summer is here.
The city is watching.
Dyckman – This isn’t just a court or a basketball tournament. Up at Dyckman, the game is a way of life. It’s a walk in the park, with bells and whistles, but that’s within the raucous crowd. On the court the legend of Dominican Power grows stronger every summer, while DA YOUNG ONES have made a name for themselves, as they are heroes to the neighborhood from 207th Street to the isle of the Dominican. This scene takes place, not only when the weather is hot, but year ’round, under the watchful eye of the 1 train.
