What is the date of the Nike Ball or Fall 3 on 3?
August 11-12, 2007
Who Can Play?
The Nike Ball or Fall 3 on 3 is open to participants that are in Grade 3 or above.
Age groups for Boys & Girls are:
- Grades 3-5
- Grades 6-8
- High School (Grades 9-12)
Note: The number of teams in each classification will determine how many different divisons of each group there are. Please check back on Friday, August 10, 2007 to locate your specific division and game time. Some age groups may have to play against older kids to form a complete bracket.
Adults are placed in divisions based what each team indicates of their team’s entry form, on average age of all players, and the tallest player on the team.
All skill levels can participate, from no playing experience up to the Elite division. The Nike Ball or Fall 3 on 3 does not provide Jerseys, nor are jerseys required. However, we do encourage teams to wear them to make it easier for all parties involved (referee, your team, & your opponents).
How is the Tournament Set-Up?
ALL BRACKETING & SEEDING OF TEAMS IS BASED ON THE ORIGINAL ROSTER TURNED IN FOR THE NIKE BALL OR FALL 3 ON 3. Once all entries are received via mail, fax or website, teams will be collected and entered into the tournament bracketing and seeding computer system. The Nike Ball or Fall 3 on 3 will only use Round Robin brackets for all events.
Round Robin bracket - Each team plays the same amount of games in that bracket. No matter if you win or lose those games, you still play all of the games scheduled. The top two (2) teams in each group and sometimes more (there are 2 groups in each division) advance to playoffs.
How many players can be on team?
Each team may have 3, 4,or 5 players on a team, but must have 3 to sign up
How are the divisions broken up?
Youth Divisions - First we look at the age of the oldest player on the team. (Example: If a team’s ages are 17-15-16-15, then this team would be in a 17 and under division) The brackets are based on the age of the oldest participant and the amount of teams in each division. For example, if there are only two (2) teams that fit into the 10 and under age bracket, then we will have to move them up to play in the 11 and under or 12 and under division so that there are enough teams to make a division and allow for the guaranteed three (3) scheduled games against different teams.
Adult Divisions - Adults are broken up by what each team selects (recreational, competitive or elite) on the entry form. Next, the height of the tallest player on the roster further divides the registered teams into appropriate divisions. Then they are broken out more by the average age of all the participants on the team. The height levels are: 6′0″ and under, 6′2″ and under, 6′4″ and under, & height open (6′5″ and above). We do our best to group teams with similar characteristics.
What is the difference between Elite, Competitive, and Recreational divisions?
The Elite division is the most competitive division at the event. The level of play in this division is college and semi-professional. The Competitive division is for those teams who play regularly and are competing to win. The recreational division is for those teams who may not play regularly or are only playing for fun.
How many games is each team guaranteed?
The Nike Ball or Fall 3 on 3 guarantees three (3) scheduled games.
How long is a game?
3on3 games will be to 16 points, win by two, or 30 minutes.
Can I enter as 1 player and will the Nike Ball or Fall 3 on 3 place me on a team?
NO! The Nike Ball or Fall 3 on 3 is a team pre-registration tournament. We do not take individual players and put them on a team.
How do I register?
You may register online at www.nikebasketball.com/chi or call the local hotline 1-800-621-2945.
I didn’t get a confirmation letter, so is my team registered?
Go to www.nikebasketball.com/chi. On the home page, click registered teams and click the city that you registered for. Your team’s name should appear on an alphabetized list of teams that are registered to participate in the event. Please allow 24-48 hours from the time your registration is received to see your team name on this list of teams.
Can I get a copy of my schedule online? Do I still need to come to check-in?
Yes. Schedules can be downloaded from the Internet on Friday, August 10th. One team representative needs to be present at check-in to receive their team t-shirts, player bags, team schedule and any other information related to the event.
The Nike Ball or Fall 3 on 3 personnel have contacted my team because we have had a problem with our team’s registration. What should I do?
Return the phone call immediately and instructions will be given to you.
Where do I pick up my event information if I did not attend check-in?
All player information can be picked up on Saturday beginning at 8:00 am.
One or more of my players won’t be able to participate. Can I replace them with someone else?
Yes. Contact The Nike Ball or Fall 3 on 3 using the tournament hotline or email as soon as possible so that we can adjust your team’s characteristics according to the new addition(s). All player changes must be made 15 minutes before the start of your first scheduled game. All changes at check-in or on Saturday will be made at the discretion of the tournament staff since this player cannot alter placement in a division that was based on the characteristics of the original player.
What if there aren’t enough teams to form a division, what happens then?
If there are not enough teams to form a division, each team will be contacted and given the option to play in a different division as close as possible to their current division’s characteristics or receive a full refund and not play in the event.
If I am under 18, do my parents have to be present? Can another parent/guardian sign a waiver for a player 17 and under?
If you are under 18 and have a waiver on file with The Nike Ball or Fall 3 on 3, your parents do not need to be present. Only a parent or guardian can sign a waiver for a child 17 and under. If a parent’s signature is not on file a player will not be eligible to participate.
Does each player need an ID while at the event?
Yes. Each player should have a government issued ID onsite both Saturday and Sunday.
What is the procedure for a protest or dispute?
The captain has the right to ask the monitor/referee/court supervisor to explain any rules. If there is a dispute that needs to be resolved, request a court supervisor to come to your court immediately to handle the situation. All protests/disputes will be handled on the court. The court monitor’s, referee’s, or court supervisor’s decision is final for the purpose of that game. Once play resumes or once the game is completed after a disagreement, the problem is considered a dead issue. DURING ANY PROTEST, TIME ON THE GAME CLOCK CONTINUES TO RUN, EXCEPT FOR THE LAST 3 MINUTES OF THE GAME.
Do we need a coach?
The Nike Ball or Fall 3 on 3 does not require a team to have a coach, however, coaches are welcome to participate.
- Each team will receive Nike Gear including a T-shirt. Players are not required to wear these T-shirts during play.
