The Family: Playoffs ‘08

LeBron James scores 21 points, including an amazing fourth-quarter dunk, to give Cleveland an 88-77 win over Boston in Game 4.

In the fourth quarter of Game 4, LeBron shook off a double team, drove right and then elevated. What happened next will live on for years in the highlight films, YouTube videos and first-hand accounts. LeBron’s dunk put the game beyond reach for Boston, and was one of the strongest exclamation points in playoff history.

LeBron, stronger thanks to last’s year’s historic payoff run, put together a complete game with a game-high 21 points and 13 assists in Cleveland’s 88-77 win over Boston. But it was his clutch dunk in the fourth-quarter that made the world stand up and take notice.

“[The dunk] just capped it off for me to get up there and put an exclamation point on the game,” said LeBron. “That was the play we needed as a team.”

It was a dunk that was probably worth more than just two points, in terms of the lift it gave to the team in the game, and one that the Cavs hope can carry over to Game 5.

Cleveland’s hot shot guard Daniel Gibson also chipped in with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting to help secure the win.
