House of Hoops presents Kevin Carroll

An agent for social change shows young NYC athletes how to use sports to make their dreams a reality.

kevin_01.jpgHarlem has long been a neighborhood where dreams are built and stars are born. The Apollo Theater has been a launching pad for countless performers while the neighborhood courts and fields have always been a breeding ground for the world’s greatest sports talent. To continue to provide opportunities and inspiration for young talent to reach their dreams Nike has partnered with House of Hoops to present the athletic instructor, author, speaker and agent for social change Kevin Carroll.

Kevin has dedicated his life to advancing sports and play as a vehicle for chasing and achieving dreams. The author of the highly successful book, Rules of the Red Rubber Ball (ESPN Books) has inspired young athletes and sports fans of all ages around the world to discover their greatness and to use the principles of other successful leaders to make their dreams a reality:

1) Commit to it
2) Seek out encouragers
3) Work out your creative muscle
4) Prepare to shine
5) Speak up
6) Expect the unexpected
7) Maximize the day

Kevin will share his message with young New York City athletes February 22nd in Harlem at the Hip-Hop Culture Center on Frederick Douglass Boulevard.

After the seminar Kevin will be hosting a book signing at the House of Hoops, giving out 100 free autographed copies of Rules of the Red Rubber Ball (ESPN Books).
