New Orleans 08: LeBron named MVP for the second time

LeBron scored big in Sunday’s big game, picking up his second MVP award in three years.

LeBron’s 27 points, nine assists and eight rebounds earned him the MVP award – his second in three years – and propelled the East to a 134-128 win. LeBron capped off his great play with an amazing dunk at the end of the game to hold off a West rally and seal the victory.

“I wanted to be aggressive and try to get to the hole to get the layup. And when I saw those bigs coming, I didn’t want to lay the ball up. They would have definitely made a play and try to block it, so I was able to go strong and dunk it through,” said LeBron.

But the game was just one part of LeBron’s successful weekend. LeBron also gave back to the game and community in New Orleans by partnering with Nike’s Let Me Play program to donate a new court to the deserving St Bernard Recreation Center. His volunteer work was as important to him as any award.

“Well, I hope not just me, but every All-Star from the East and West was able to put smiles on kids and on families faces,'’ James said. “I think we all know what happened, the devastation down here and to bring the game here I think it really uplifted the families down here. We had a great time.'’

Also, Chris Bosh and Paul Pierce each scored in double figures for the winning East side with 14 and 10 points respectively.
