The results are in! LeBron, Kobe and Jason Kidd are all winners. Each was selected to start in this year’s midseason classic.
LeBron James, MVP of the 2006 All-Star Game, will be making his fourth career All-Star performance for the East side. LeBron is the only Cleveland Cavalier to be selected to four straight All-Star Games.
“It means a lot to me,” James said. “I work hard every summer to prepare myself to go out and play the game at a high level like I do every night and it’s recognized by the fans. The fans recognize the way I play the game and approach the game every night and I appreciate them for once again voting me as an All-Star starter. It’s going to be exciting.”
New Jersey Nets guard Jason Kidd was voted to his ninth appearance as an All-Star.
“As you get older you appreciate them even more. I think a little bit more. Being 34 years old and being an all-star, that means a lot,” Kidd said.
And every game gets him closer to breaking All-Star records, as he currently ranks 3rd in history in three-pointers (11), is tied for 6th in steals (19) and is 7th in assists (58).
Kobe Bryant, MVP of the 2007 All-Star Game, led the voting for the West side. It was 10 years ago that Kobe Bryant made his first All-Star appearance as a starter becoming the youngest player in NBA history at the time. He’s been named a starter for every All-Star game since.
“It’s fun playing in the game just because this is where all the great players are. These are the greatest players in the world. So, to participate in the game and compete against the best, you know, I can get up for that pretty easily. It’s just such a good time,” said Bryant
