To celebrate his 23rd birthday we honor the the place where it all began. SVSM, the school LeBron made famous.
It all started in Akron. St. Vincent’s – St. Mary’s High School, to be exact. Already a two-time MVP in the AAU circuit by 1999, it was there that he began his rise to greatness.
His first year put him on the floor with other powerhouse players from the AAU, making the boys of SVSM unstoppable. But it was LeBron that took center stage, averaging 18.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, leading the young squad to an undefeated season and the state championship.
From that point on he ruled the courts of Ohio, earning state titles, Ohio player of the year rankings as both a sophomore, junior and senior, as well as multiple national player of the year awards during his time at SVSM. By graduation there was nothing left for him to do but skip college and take his game to the big leagues.
With all of his accomplishments it’s hard to remember that LeBron James is still just getting started. Having achieved more in a few seasons than most players do in their entire careers he continues to set his sights on even greater challenges.
To celebrate his 23rd birthday and to honor his glory days on the high school hardwood we present the Zoom LeBron V SVSM Edition.
