Back in 1982, shoe designer Bruce Kilgor unknowingly created a monster. The Air Force 1.

Equally beloved by hoopers, b-boys, sneaker heads, and MCs, the AF1 has evolved into an icon—one that has taken on a life if its own.

Whether you’re rocking the blacktops or the party, the AF1 is the sneaker of choice—and has been for the last 25 years. Constantly evolving, it shape-shifts from one style to the next while paying homage to players, teams, artists. The most recent incarnation honors Sir Charles—“The Round Mound of Rebound.”

The ideal muse for a new line of AF1’s, Charles Barkley is the physical embodiment of Nike Force.

Aggressive. Unpredictable. Outspoken. Unmatched.

This past Thursday, Nike offered fans the opportunity to inspect the new Barkley AF line at a party at The Point, Los Angeles’s epicenter for all things basketball.

AF fans packed into The Point and stood in awe beneath the larger-than-life installation. They inquisitively inspected the statue constructed from hundreds of Polaroid photos. Each one captured Angelenos rocking their favorite AF1s in their own unique style.

As the night progressed, attendees ate, drank, and celebrated yet another memorable Nike Air Force milestone.
