Nike and Foot Locker launch New York’s new temple of basketball.
All eyes were on 125th Street in Harlem today as Nike and Foot Locker teamed up to celebrate New York’s long legacy of basketball greatness with the opening of the new House of Hoops concept store. Dedicated to everything basketball, the store features Nike, Jordan, Converse products all under One roof, player exclusive shoes, apparel and sporting goods endorsed by the greatest athletes to ever player the game.

Crowds lined the streets to get a glimpse of Harlem’s new hoops mecca.

To launch the event a dream team of the game’s greatest turned out for a panel discussion. Hosted by former pro and current TV personality Kenny Smith, the event highlighted the pioneers of the game. The infamous Charles Barkley joined the sharp shooting Chris Mullin, the legendary Julius “Dr. J” Earving and John “Boy Wonder” Isaacs of the early New York Rens.

The world famous DJ, baller and sneakerhead Bobbito Garcia sat down with Kenny Smith to discuss the players and the shoes that have shaped the game.

Bobbito talked about the good old days with Dr. J and John Isaacs.

The celebrity panel took turns sharing their stories of the New York game and how it changed the course of their lives.

Chris Mullin shared his stories of earning respect on the world’s toughest courts.

Barkley told it like it is, with his perspective on the city’s influence over the sport.

The Doctor talked about his days running at Rucker and gave some words of advice to the new generation of ballers.

David Lee, Nate “the Great” Robinson and Eddie Curry came out to represent the home team.

New Yorkers are the toughest critics in the world. David Lee reassures die hard Knicks fans that the team is back for good.
