Check out the latest highlights from Jackson, Augustus, Douglas and more.

LAUREN JACKSON SCORES 4,000TH POINT

lauren_jackson.jpgLauren Jackson’s continues to put forth efforts that all but have the engravers from etching her name on the 2007 MVP trophy. Not only did she win her second consecutive Player of the Week award - her fourth this season - on July 30, but she became the WNBA’s youngest and fastest player to reach 4,000 points in Seattle’s 89-75 win over Indiana on July 27.

In Jackson’s historic game, she notched a double-double, scoring 27 boards and snaring 10 rebounds. Two nights later, she shot 10-of-17 from the field for a game-high 29 points in an 92-88 loss to San Antonio. And in her final game of the week, she notched a game-high 30 points and game-high eight rebounds in a 78-74 loss to Sacramento. In the last three Seattle games, she has shot a scorching 63% (30-for-48) from the field.

SEIMONE AUGUSTUS SCORES CAREER-HIGH 39 POINTS

seimone_augustus.jpgSeimone Augustus’ star continues to rise. On July 29, Minnesota, behind her career-high 39 points, went into Sacramento and came back with a 78-73 win. She made 16 of her 25 shots from the field, including 3-of-4 behind the 3-point line. Her 39 points were six better than her previous scoring record – a 33-point performance against Washington on July 20.

In three games this week, Augustus scored a total of 75 points, as Minnesota took two of the three games. These stellar performances are nothing new for Augustus, and have resulted in her trailing only Lauren Jackson in points-per-game average in the WNBA. Her shooting percentage is over 50%, exceptional for a non-post player and good enough for fourth in WNBA.
