LAUREN JACKSON WINS TOP HONORS AGAIN

lauren_jackson.jpgAfter averaging 23.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game and leading Seattle to a 2-1 record last week, Lauren Jackson received player of the week honors for the ninth time in her career and the second time this season.

Jackson scored 33 points and posted 12 rebounds in a 94-76 victory over Chicago, marking her sixth double-double of the season. Just days later she posted her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 84-63 victory against New York.

sue_bird.jpgJackson’s teammates are also lighting up the court. Betty Lennox posted nine points, 10 rebounds and six assists against New York last Sunday while Sue Bird reached her 1,000th career assist in the first quarter of the New York game.

Jackson now ranks first in points and blocks and second in rebounds per game. Can she be stopped?

BEARD HITS CLUTCH 3 AGAINST DETROIT

When the pressure is on, Washington’s Alana Beard gets the job done. Hitting a clutch 3 with only 13 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Beard secured a 65-64 victory against top-seeded Detroit. Beard posted a total of 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Delisha Milton-Jones also put in a strong performance, leading with 19 points and seven rebounds.

deanna_nolan.jpgDespite the loss, Detroit’s Deanna Nolan scored a season high of 26 points and posted six rebounds and two assists. Will Detroit turn things around next week and get their squad back on track for the playoffs? Stay tuned for Detroit’s match up against New York this Friday.

DUPREE AND PRICE LEAD CHICAGO TO VICTORY

price_dupree.jpgRegardless of the fact that Chicago is only in the midst of its second year as a franchise, the powerful duo of Candice Dupree and rookie Armintie Price are turning heads and securing victories.

In a major upset against Sacramento, Dupree and Price each scored 16 points in a 92-84 double-overtime victory.

The wins just kept coming as Dupree forced Los Angeles into overtime and helped secure the 74-71 victory with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Price also had a solid game with nine points, 10 rebounds and six assists as Chicago won its second consecutive overtime game this season.

AUGUSTUS: MINNESOTA’S RISING STAR

seimone_augustus.jpgSeimone Augustus was back in full force last week, leading Minnesota to an impressive 77-66 win over San Antonio with 29 points and nine rebounds.

Nicole Ohlde scored 14 points and rookie Lindsay Harding added 11 to secure Minnesota’s second road win this season against San Antonio.
