Brandon Roy gets top rookie honors

With 127 of 128 first-place votes, Brandon Roy ran away with the league’s top rookie title.

brandon_roy1.jpg Roy started this season with a 20-point game against Seattle and never looked back, averaging 16.8 points and 4 assists per game that put him far atop the rookie class.

January 17, 2007
Portland 94, Cleveland 76
Roy was a huge factor in this decisive win over Cleveland, posting 19 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and a season-high six steals in barely 30 minutes of playing time.

March 20, 2007
Portland 100, Washington 98
Doing his best impression of teammate Zach Randolph, Roy grabbed a season-high 12 boards to go along with his 19 points against Washington. His three crucial baskets in the final three minutes helped seal the victory.

April 4, 2007
Portland 94, Utah 89
Again playing without Z-Bo in the lineup, Roy led all scorers with a season-high 29 points, 25 of them in the second half, and scored Portland’s last seven points from the line to lock up the W.
