On the past:
The 80s was a good time for basketball. I think that the style of play was great. Teams weren’t afraid to be aggressive and take chances, pass the ball to one another and fast break. I thought that was a really great time for the game. I think in the 90s we saw it slow down a little bit sometimes, we saw it become more of a power game. I’m thankful that now I think the game’s opening back up, and people are moving the ball, using their skills and running…I think that’s the way the game was meant to be played.

On the present:
It’s an exciting time…it’s exciting that the game’s starting to emulate that game from the old-school days. The game is really most beautiful when it’s played five-on-five and the ball moves and each five guys has an impact on each possession. I think we got away from that and it turned into one-on-one and two-on-two for a period of time. But right now, we’re starting to see teams strategize with all five players, move the ball, change sides of the floor, use their heads. I think it’s exciting to see people use their minds and be creative rather than just try to be more physical than the other team.

On the future:
People are getting bigger, stronger and faster, obviously, but I also think people are starting to concentrate and care for their skills again. So I think with the athleticism and the demand for skills, we’re gonna see basketball definitely evolve into something even better in the next 25 years.

On attitude:
I still feel like an underdog every day when I wake up. I feel like I got a lot to prove and a lot to prove to myself…I don’t ever really think about what I’ve accomplished, I always think about what I can accomplish today. Mentally, I just try to relax and be happy and enjoy myself. I think that we play so many games and there can be so much pressure if you let it get to you that you forget to have fun. So for me I try to be happy, relax and let that rub off on my teammates. That’s about it, enjoy each game, try to make the most of it so when I look back, I really had a great time in my career…I want to be a great teammate and relaxed and happy when the game comes.
