On drive:
What drives me is just my passion for basketball. I’ve been playing basketball since I was a kid. My Dad used to have me and my brother out in the yard, he wouldn’t let us play video games during the week, because we had to do our homework and then he’d send us outside to play. It’s not only a livelihood, it’s something that I cherish.

On preparation:
I think a lot of times I just think of where I came from, you know, who I’m playing for. During the game, you have your name on the back of your jersey, your last name. And it not only represents you, it represents your classmates, your family, your friends and things like that. And I think about all the people who told me when I was younger that I wouldn’t be able to do this.

On winning:
My aggression probably comes from playing my older brother when we were young…we used to always play against each other. And I’m still that way to this day in that I hate to lose. No matter what it is, board games, anything. I’ll play a kid one-on-one and I’ll have fun. If we’re playing to ten, I might let him get eight. But at the end of the day, I’m not gonna let him beat me.

On the game:
The lasting impact I want to leave on this game is that, first of all, I want everyone to know I always played hard. At times, people think that because you play 82 games you take nights off. But I don’t ever want that to be me. And I just want everyone to know that I appreciate the game. In order to appreciate the game, you have to have respect for the game and all the players in the game and the guys that went before you. So you gotta know the history of the game and just be honored and have fun. That’s what I want people to know, that I always had fun and I always respected the game.
