Force Stories: Jamaal Wilkes

We’re looking back at the dominant Force players in Nike history. Today: Jamaal Wilkes.

With a baseline shot that floated through the air and an array of skills on offense and defense, Jamaal Wilkes was a legend of West Coast basketball from the 70s to the 80s.

After netting a couple of college championships, “Silk” entered the league on a high note, winning Rookie of the Year honors and helping Golden State pull off a 4-0 sweep of Washington for the title. When he became a free agent two years later, Wilkes headed to Los Angeles to pick up a few more rings in 1980, 1982 and 1985. In addition to being an offensive threat from anywhere on the court, this smooth performer also enjoyed two-time all-defensive team honors.
