We’re looking back at the dominant Force players in Nike history. This week: Mychal Thompson.
Picked first overall in the 1978 draft, the Bahamas-born Mychal Thompson was known for his persistent toughness and valuable contributions to his teams’ success.
Thompson wasted no time in his first season with Portland, earning all-rookie status and proving himself as a big scorer and rebounder. He continued to put up strong numbers in the early 80s alongside fellow Force alum Calvin Natt. Thompson enjoyed success in his late career as well, winning back-to-back championships with Los Angeles in 1987 and 1988.
