Bobitto, aka DJ Cucumberslice, was the MC who facilitated tonight’s discussions. He opened the night with a brief conversation with Nike Basketball Category Footwear Leader Kris Aman.

Bobitto later on introduced Zoom Kobe I designer, Ken Link, and brought him up to the stage. Ken was there to discuss the development of the Zoom Kobe I and bring a little history to the night. Kenzo remained onstage as Bobitto introduced the man of the hour(s), Kobe Bryant. As Kobe entered the room, decked out in the red/white Zoom Kobe 1’s and a full Flight suit, loud applause erupted along with the constant sound of cameras clicking. Everyone was scrambling to get a good shot and capture the moment. Much excitement was in the air. Kobe played off this and started the night off with a joke — stating that he literally just landed in Houston and headed over to the venue with the engine still hot.

The night was an open forum. Select audience members were able to ask Kobe questions, ranging from game play, working with Nike, designing the Zoom Kobe I, to what music he is listening to now. Kobe’s responses were very articulate and he held nothing back in his answers. They were direct and he gave everyone what they were looking for. He was open with the crowd, which proved to be a very comfortable environment. Ken Link spoke alongside Kobe, on the thinking that went into the Zoom Kobe I. Kobe, who is known for being a hard-worker, also made a comment on how dedicated Ken Link was to the project and how he was pleased with the outcome of the Zoom Kobe I.
